How do you hold a meeting when you can’t meet? Well, just ask Jennifer, our indispensible church secretary. We will hold our first on-line Official Board meeting on Monday using a free web-service called “Zoom”.
It’s easy to use and Jennifer has offered to help all of us figure out how to use it by hosting a test meeting Friday at 2pm. If you are an Official Board member, you received an email from Jennifer explaining what you need to do. Don’t worry, both Jennifer and I are here to help you – but basically, you go to a website, (www.Zoom.us) click on “Join a Meeting”, enter the code Jennifer gives you ahead of time and you’re in. We’ll be able to see and hear each other as we discuss what needs to be discussed. If you want to join wearing your jammies, no one is going to mind!
Once we are comfortable with the format, we might think about how we can use it for other things. If it looks like it will be months instead of weeks that in-person worship is not viable, we can look at having Zoom sessions you can join for communal prayer, singing, talking together and maybe even a sermon if you felt like you wanted one!
Not everyone has a computer, so I am keeping in touch by phone – you can too!
God provides what we need. We just have to keep our minds open to the possibilities.
Blessings upon you in these interesting days, and prayers for those who are ill, prayers of gratitude for those who are keeping us safe, prayers of thanksgiving to God for all the ways we are connecting with each other.
